ABOUT ME

I'm Anthony Botsford a creator of all different varieties.
I've worked on numerous different titles for companies ranging from smaller indie studios to bigger corporations. Video Games are a great collaboration between the audience's vision and the creator's vision. I'm immensely passionate about all aspects of creative expression and the utilization of the gaming medium as an interactive art form.
Additionally, I'm the lead developer, sole artist, writer, sound, UX and Level Designer on an indie project of my very own that is currently in the works called DownSouth. 🟣 I have assembled a remote team for said project, working and collaborating with people from different cultures all across the globe.
I'm creating an indie studio of my own, where I'll be able to channel all of my creative efforts into creating even more fun, engaging and interactive pieces of expression for all to explore! -
I've been creating experiences from a very young age. My first ever game was a Super Mario Bros. inspired platforming game built in Game Maker 8.1, which established a lot of the DNA for my future creations. Driven by the idea of creating thought-provoking, meaningful commentary, I've dabbled in a plethora of different disciplines. Throughout my high-school years I delved into the multi-media industry of film: directing, producing, editing and acting in my own short-film "Dandelion Wine", which was later screened in theatres.
Long before, perhaps as early as I can remember, I was creating art pieces as a young bean.

Throughout my career, I’ve spearheaded teams from around the globe, creating imaginative titles that bring out the expression, humanity and care in game creation. Examples include my empathy-testing moral dilemma adventure game: "DownSouth", or “Limbs”, a fighting game where your only method of attack is through hurling your own body parts at your opponents. Aside from my roles as a game director, I am not only at home creating a distinct direction for an experience, but am eager to execute each idea with precise understanding of the design process.
With a deep passion for games as a craft, I’ve worked with numerous indie game companies that have allotted me roles as a creative director, experience designer or design lead. I often have taken on the role as the sole artist for many projects, tuning my skills in order to ensure that each and every project has a unique flavor that will make it stand out among the crowd. I’m eager to learn whatever is required to get the job done, in addition to my catalogue of experience in numerous programs that range from art creation, to programming to design. Friends I’ve worked with have commented on my ability to create compelling and unique gameplay concepts out of simple ideas, expanding them into a cohesive whole throughout every step of the design process. Most importantly, I value that everyone is having fun while contributing.

The name "troopsushi" was actually derived from a happenstance moment that occurred during the development of my first game ever. While in the process of creating a helmet-wearing hermit enemy called a 'troop' I took a break to go have dinner and happened to be eating sushi that same night. If not for the coincidental overlap of those 2 things, I would still be called Fatrope2388, which is far less flattering.
From that point onward, 'Sushi Thursdays' have become a prominent tradition within my household. The 'troop' portion of the name is held together by the many wonderful people whom I have had the privilege of meeting and collaborating with throughout the years.
